I come from England and I find the Japanese summer too hot.
In August, I really feel like I am dying.
I spend most of my time at home under the air conditioner.
But a few years ago, the City Hall built a water jet feature outside the train station.
It’s one of the few places outside where you can feel cool because this water feature also produces mist.
It has two circular rings, a bigger and a smaller one. In these rings are a number of water jets that shoot out water from the ground.
Some children love to avoid the jets of water and others love to get hit by them.
The feature also has bright colorful lights.
At night, the jets of water, mist and lights create a magical atmosphere and an escape from the heat.
For over a year now, I have hoped to paint this magical atmosphere.
And finally I did.
I still haven’t attempted to paint an illuminated version - maybe next year.
How do you escape the heat?
Thanks for reading and God bless you, Gareth.
